Engineering

Team MPV Engineering tries to promote Science, Engineering, and Technology for our community. This program is for the future of America. Most of the people in our group want to be engineers when they grow up. This program teaches teamwork, responsibility, and sportsmanship. Without teamwork we wouldn’t be as productive as we could be. We listen to everyone’s ideas and then think about them and discuss them. We then decide which ideas will work the best. Then we sketch out our robot design and build our robot. We might change our ideas, but we always use teamwork. Technology is important to the world because without it there would be no TV’s or anything. BEST ROBOTICS BEST stands for Boosting Science Engineering and Technology.

The BEST compettion invovles many schools into their program so they can have the opportunity to build a robot and be successful in the development with science, engineering, and technology. Many different schools participate in this robot compettion. Our robots are to be built from scratch from out of the specific materials that are given to us. We have fundraisers to make money for all of the unprovided materials we may need as we progress through compettion. We create a booth to explain how we used technology and engineering throughout the 6-week time period. We promote our clubs and activities through the newspaper and radio stations in our communities. In 2005 we took home four awards. “Best T-Shirt Design”, “Most Photogenic Robot”, “ Fourth Place Robot” and “ Third Place BEST Overall.” We are working hard to place again this year.In 2007 we took home five awards. "1st Place Website, 1st Place Notebook, 1st Place Booth, the Founders Award for Creativity, and 1st Place BEST overall." We also went to Regionals and placed 1st in Most Photogenic Robot and 3rd place Website. In 2008 we took home 3rd Place BEST, Founder's Award for creative design, BEST Booth, BEST Notebook, and BEST Website.

This competition is not only challenging but a lot of fun. To find out more about BEST please visit www.bestinc.org. Every year the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith sponsors the local competition called River Valley BEST as well as the regional competition called Frontier Trails BEST. This years River Valley Competition will be held on October 25th.
